This practical and educational course will introduce you to what it means to be mindful - and how it can enhance your life.
The sessions are experiential and will include practices such as mindfulness of breathing, mindful movement and the body scan as a focus for being aware of the present moment.
We will explore the physiology of stress and how we can learn to regulate our moods and become better able to respond rather than react to challenges as they arise in our life.
We will also begin to discover patterns of behaviour that may be adding to our distress and how we might respond to ourselves with greater kindness and acceptance.
And we will explore how being more present can enhance our lives and bring greater fulfilment.
The course structure willl follow the outline of the best-selling book, "Mindfulness - A guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World." You will need a copy of the book before coming on the course. Participants will also be given about 20 minutes of daily home practice throughout the duration of the course to gain maximum benefit.
This course is suitable for beginners as well as those wishing to revive a flagging mindfulness practice or those who wish to benefit from being in a group setting. It can also be taken one-to-one.
